Nature is what it's all about. The center has tons of free publications for NE Iowa plus state maps. The gift shop is so fun! Great selection of books for hobbies in the woods, children's books plus toys like they used to make them! Visit the wildlife museum downstairs, great display of all animals you'd find here. Arrowhead collections to butterflies. Plus live animals exhibition and arbitorium outside the shop.
I have been enjoying going here for as long as I can remember!! Just wish they would put more outdoor activities in. The welcome center is full of activities tho!
Free to go to...nice visitor center. The deer seemed to be gone and there was only one wild turkey there. The bear, foxs, raccoons,wolf, coyote,bobcat were all there. We went for heritage days and got to see blacksmithing. Learned a bit about old school houses. Had home made apple cider and kids got Buffalo jerky. Saw old printing press running. Was a nice family outing.
Nice place. Would like to see the coyote and wolf have some friends. They are pack animals and being alone isn't right.
